What I'm reading now...

Though this tends to change often and I really should be writing instead of reading, I’m enjoying this series so much right now I feel like I should talk about it. Right now I’ve just started on The Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter. I’ve only read the first three books (Darkest Night, Darkest Kiss, and Darkest Passion) but they were AMAZING.

For those of you that don’t know about them, the back story is this. Pandora didn’t open the box. The box was opened by a group of Zeus’ guards who were jealous that the responsibility of protecting the box went to Pandora when so many of them were more worthy. When the box was opened, the demons escaped but instead of being allowed to run amok on all of civilization, the demons were each forced inside one of the warriors who opened the box. When the two were combined, man and demon, they became inseparable so that the man could not live without the demon. The demon, however, would be released upon the world if his immortal warrior were to die.

For thousands of years the warriors have been learning how to control their demons and how to survive knowing they cannot love and they cannot live the life they had before. They are enslaved by the will of their demon. Reyes, whose demon is pain, must constantly inflict pain on himself by slashing his arms or even jumping off buildings, so he will not inflict pain on others. Paris, whose demon is promiscuity, must have sex to not weaken, but he can never have sex with the same woman twice. There are also others, Violence, Death, Misery, Secrets, and Lies to name a few. I believe there are 13 demon/warriors in all, though there have been hints that were more demons than warriors so there may be other people possessed as well. I can’t wait to find out.

These are all romance novels and I’m really mad that I am poor because there are three more out that I want to buy. I have to find out what happens. I’m saving my pennies now and I recommend these to anyone who loves paranormal romance. I’ll let you know if I get to read any more of them.

Gena Showalter also has an Atlantis series that I've read a couple of.  They are very good as well.  I recommend The Vampire's Bride.
